Product description
7Nutrition's Vitamin C contains 100% L-ascorbic acid. It contributes to the proper functioning of the immune system and can protect cells from oxidative stress. This can occur due to strenuous physical activity, such as during sports, or due to psychological stress.
Athletes undergoing strenuous physical activity or people who do not consume enough vitamin C through their diet can use vitamin C to prevent a vitamin C deficiency.
What does vitamin C do in the body?
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can protect body cells from oxidative stress. Environmental pollutants such as exhaust fumes, pesticides, and smoke, as well as physical and mental stress, generate free radicals in the body. These trigger stress reactions that can simultaneously affect immune function and physical resilience.
Vitamin C is also involved in the formation of proline, an important component of connective tissue proteins found in human bones, teeth, gums, blood vessels, and joint cartilage. Without vitamin C, normal collagen formation cannot proceed properly.
Vitamin C is also responsible for important enzymatic metabolic processes. Among other things, it keeps the enzyme hydroxylase active, which is involved in the synthesis of carnitine and plays a key role in energy and fat metabolism. In the body, it promotes iron absorption and thus indirectly regulates oxygen transfer in the body's cells. At the same time, it prevents the oxidation of iron, thereby protecting the body's cells from oxidative stress.
Vitamin C can even regenerate its related vitamin E when it has been oxidized by free radicals.
Since the human body cannot produce vitamin C, it needs to obtain sufficient amounts through daily food intake. Fresh fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamin C. A person should eat at least three portions of raw fruits and vegetables per day. In cases of deficiency, vitamin C supplementation can be helpful.
